There are an abundance of practice management consultants who do this sort of thing. Also, the MGMA - Medical Group Management Association - the national organization for practice managers, has a wealth of resources.
Locally, there are a lot of people in the field who have done this who will be willing to share.

Great ideas. The one-box-fits-all consulting is a relic of the past and yet the big systems seem content to follow that logic. When it comes to consulting, some organizations hire "safe" rather than who can deliver results AND accountability.

Just joined the group and wanted to say hi. Seems like our technology firms has had more engagements in health care related organizations over past few years and looking for ways to learn more about business drivers in field.

I say health care related because the organizations are all in different areas, have vastly different needs and profiles, but need someone to help them leverage their technology.

Some different health care projects include.

Helping a first responder select and deploy a new Electronic Medical Records System,
Providing full network support for a rapidly growing medical repricing firm (finally at 100 employees, even interviewed and helped them hire full-time people to replace us),
Help a home medical services provider stablize their systems and facilitate secure remote access to their primary application.
Helped physician practice move to Voice over IP to improve their customer communications.

Look forward to meeting you at future Link events.

If you are interested in healthcare services, you should check out the ACHE of North Texas for a listing of education and social activities sponsored by the American College of Healthcare Executives in North Texas. This is a terrific organization for people who either work in hospitals or related healthcare organizations.

Taking care of the documents and patient records is vital to our national health care system. I have a solution. JAS Document Solutions is the company to contact to get help preserving the past to protect the future. I would like to network to meet people in health care that are interested in exchanging the paper files for electronic images. I would also like to partner up with other firms that are wanting to or are currently breaking into the healthcare arena.

Individuals who start professional service companies -- the solo operation that Fast Company magazine once labeled the free agent nation -- is one of the most challenging and exciting of all start ups. Finding business is a major hurdle. If you cannot master this requirement, you cannot survive. Networking with other small firms who are in similar or related market segments might produce synergies that lead to new business – what do you bring to the table the other guys do not have?

Healthcare is an exciting but challenging field. Some have described it as America's most dysfunctional industry. While that may not be entirely fair, one can argue that the turmoil over financing and quality opens the door for nimble companies who address specific client needs. Finding those clients means broadening the market foot print. That is no easy task which is why this group is designed to serve as a platform for reaching out.
